Background: The main aim of this project was to develop a system based on the microcontroller for power transformer protection. To monitor the transformers parameters of operation, especially the current flow into and out of the transformer. To detect currents exceeding required operating level. To isolate the transformer for the line hence prevent damage that may be caused by the excess current for a sustained length of time. To guarantee uninterrupted power supply to customers and avert or minimize expenditure on replacement or maintenance of transformers.
